Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. After moving to Oxfordshire in the age group of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma was inspired to be an actor at age six. Through the years she was at the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing along with dancing, as well as acting. By the time she turned 10 Emma was a participant in several Stagecoach Productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The movie adaption of J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel was cast for the first time in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma from her Oxford Theatre teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint of their auditions after eight. They were chosen to play the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It was also the most successful film in 2001. Its opening weekday and weekend ticket sales were record breaking. Critics praised the film and the performances of the three top young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British publication, described Emma's performance "amazing". Emma's performance won her a nomination and earned her five awards afterward for the movie.
